Raising rates would intensify pressure on governments, credit markets, leveraged trades, and financial institutions, while cutting rates would weaken currencies and accelerate demand for gold and silver. In their view, the eventual outcome is a credit and currency crisis that monetary policy can delay but cannot prevent.<\/p>\n<p>They warn that instability in Japan, South Korea, private credit, bonds, and derivatives could trigger global contagion. Morgan believes gold and silver are consolidating after major gains and may briefly decline during a liquidity crisis, creating additional buying opportunities. Holter favors accumulating physical metals now, warning that buyers may eventually be unable to exchange fiat currency for them.<\/p>\n<p>Both expect gold, silver, and oil to rise over the long term as currencies lose purchasing power.
